Description

Sidborough is a house that was formerly a small farmhouse and adjoining cottage, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with rubble stacks topped by 19th-century brick. The roof is thatched on the northeast side and covered with corrugated asbestos on the front. The house has two rooms and faces southwest, away from the road. The left end was likely a separate one-room cottage, with an axial stack positioned between it and the adjoining farmhouse, which has an end stack. The right room was originally two rooms.

The building is two storeys high and features an irregularly arranged four-window front with variously sized late 19th-century casements that include glazing bars. The main entrance is located in the left room, which has a 20th-century gabled porch, while there is a secondary 20th-century door near the right end. The roof is hipped on the left side and gabled on the right. The rear wall is mostly blind, except for one small 20th-century window and an oven projection for the axial stack.

Inside, the left room has a chamfered crossbeam with run-out stops, and the right room features a chamfered crossbeam with scroll stops. Both fireplaces are made of rubble, and their oak lintels are chamfered with run-out stops. The roof has not been inspected.
