Description
Old Beams is a house, possibly two former cottages, likely built in the late 17th century. It features plastered cob on rubble footings, with rubble or cob stacks topped with 19th-century brick, and a thatched roof. The house has a three-room plan facing south, which includes a small entrance lobby on the right (east) and two heated rooms. The central room is served by a large projecting rear lateral stack, while the left end room has an axial stack. The building has two storeys and an irregular two-window front with 20th-century casements, some of which have glazing bars. The right first-floor window has a slight eyebrow above it, and there is a half-dormer on the left side. The door is located near the right end of the house. The roof is hipped to the left and half-hipped to the right. Inside, the carpentry details are plain where they are exposed, although the roof itself was not inspected.
