Description

Oldborough Cottage is likely an 18th-century cottage located on the east side of Sidborough Hill, near Morchard Bishop. The construction consists of plastered cob walls on rubble footings, with rubble or cob stacks topped with 20th-century brick and a thatched roof. The cottage originally had a 2-room plan with a central entrance facing south. It has end stacks. The front of the building has an irregular two-window arrangement featuring 20th-century casement windows without glazing bars. A roughly central door is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled porch with a thatched roof. The roof is hipped to the right and gable-ended to the left (west), featuring a large projecting stack. The interior has been modernised, with original beams boxed in and fireplaces blocked. The roof space has not been inspected. The cottage is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
