Barn At Approximately 15 Metres West Of Banns Farmhouse

The barn located approximately 15 metres west of Banns Farmhouse is likely a granary built over cartsheds and stables. It dates from the early 19th century and was constructed in three phases. The structure is made of granite rubble with granite dressings and features grouted scantle slate roofs with gable ends.

The barn has a rectangular plan and includes a centrally located waggon shed doorway, which has been partly blocked, as well as opposing winnowing doorways on the right. It has been later extended to include a lower cartshed and stables with a loft on the left side, along with a lean-to on the right.

The barn stands two storeys high. The original barn has a one-window front in the middle, while the left extension is slightly lower and also has a one-window front. The right side features a later single-storey lean-to with one window in the front. The original openings include a blocked doorway towards the left and a large central doorway that is partly blocked. There are old ledged doors and an old window with glazing bars in small openings. Granite steps lead up to the rear loading doorway. The interior has not been inspected.
