Description

Haydon’s Cottage is an 18th-century house located in St Buryan. The construction is of painted granite rubble with granite dressings, topped with an asbestos slate roof and dressed granite chimneys at the gable ends. The eaves were heightened around the late 18th or early 19th century. The house has an L-shaped layout, originally comprising two rooms at the front, likely with a lobby entrance and staircase situated between them. A pantry is incorporated as an outshut behind the right-hand room. A later lean-to was added to the right side, and in the 20th century, it was enlarged to create a doorway; there is no other front doorway. One old four-pane casement window remains on the right side, paired with a later 19th or early 20th-century four-pane horned sash window above. The left-hand end features a projecting gable, indicating the former roofline. The interior has not been inspected.
