Description
The farm buildings immediately north of Rospannel Farmhouse are a group of structures dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and feature grouted scantle slate roofs with gable ends. The buildings form an L-shaped group that was built in three phases. The original barn is a rectangular granary situated over a shippon, with opposing first-floor loading and winnowing doorways towards the right, and L-plan stone steps leading up to a rear doorway. To the right of the barn is an extension, and in front of this extension is a building with a loft that is at right angles to it.
The exterior consists of two storeys and has remained virtually unaltered, retaining most of its original openings. The north-east front of the original barn features a doorway on the right, with a loading doorway above it, two small slit ventilators on the left, a small later window between them, and a small shuttered opening above. The barn has old ledged doors. Inside, the structure is largely unchanged since the 19th century, preserving the original first-floor structure and some fittings.
