Description

Granaries over shippons, stables, and a cartshed, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and have hipped roofs covered in gaulted scantle slate. They form an L-shaped layout comprising two similar barns with openings facing into the corner, a lower cartshed and stable range behind the left-hand arm of the L, and a single-storey stable extension at the right-hand end of the other arm. A swill kitchen adjoins the stable extension, and a piggery runs parallel behind. The piggery’s front corner abuts the farmhouse. The barns are two storeys high, with similar north and east facades overlooking the farmyard. Each front has a doorway close to the corner, followed by a symmetrical two-window section, incorporating a central doorway and loading doorway above. The left-hand front has a widened doorway and a window with a partly blocked loading doorway above. The right-hand front has a doorway with a window over and a window towards the right-hand side. A single-storey addition is located on the right-hand side, with a doorway on its left. The east-facing return front has a wide arched doorway flanked by doorways, a loading doorway above the right-hand doorway, a small window on the left, and another window towards the right. Many of the windows and doors are original or retain historical features. The interior was not inspected.
