Description

ST ERTH TREMELLING LANE SW 53 SE 7/257 No 2 (Tremelling Farmhouse), - including front garden walls and gate piers GV II

Farmhouse including front garden walls and gate piers. Circa early C19. Slurried rubble walls. Grouted scantle slate roof (asbestos at rear) with brick chimneys over the gable ends. Large external 3-stage rubble chimney breast at left-hand end. Plan: Double depth plan with 2 rooms at the front (wider room left) flanking a cross passage leading to stair and service rooms within probably integral rear outshut. Probably back kitchen at rear left. Right-hand side is deeper at rear under shallower roof, probably a later C19 extension. Exterior: 2-storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3 window south east front with doorway central to fenestration. Original door and windows: 4-panel door; 16-pane hornless sashes. Circa late C19 fretted wooden porch with basket arch and cusped and pierced bargeboard to the steep gable. Interior: Not inspected but probably retains all its early C19 joinery including the staircase. Rubble garden walls on 3 sides of rectangular garden at the front. Gateway aligned with doorway. Round-headed granite monolithic piers.
