Description
Lower Woon is an early 19th-century farmhouse, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and some 20th-century additions. It is constructed of granite rubble with a slurried slate roof, featuring ridge coping tiles and substantial projecting stacks at the gable ends with short brick shafts. The farmhouse originally comprised a two-room plan with a central entrance that directly accesses the room to the left, and a stud wall dividing it from the larger room to the right. A 19th-century outshut extends to the rear of the entrance and the left-hand room, containing an unheated service room and the staircase.
The building presents as a symmetrical two-window range with early 19th-century 16-pane sash windows, each within a brick head. A central gabled porch includes a doorway with a cambered brick head and keystone, now fitted with a 20th-century glazed door, and a small single light on its right side. A single-storey, 20th-century lean-to is attached to the left side. A single light with a chamfered granite surround, blocked in slate, is located at ground floor level to the left of the front.
At the rear, a two-storey outshut is present, with a later single-storey outshut added in the angle to the left of the main building. The left side of the outshut includes a four-pane light at first floor level. The rear of the outshut has 20th-century windows at both ground and first floor levels. A single-storey shed with a corrugated iron roof is attached to the right end. The interior has not been inspected.
