Description

Rosemellyn Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1830, with few later alterations. It is constructed of rubble that is rendered and lined out, topped with a hipped slurried slate roof featuring ridge coping tiles. There is a rendered stack on the left, while the stack on the right has been removed, and there is a rear stack located at the rear left wing.

The building has a double depth plan, with a central entrance leading to an entrance hall. To the left is a large principal room, and to the right is a smaller principal room, both heated by stacks on the outer sides. There are shallow, unheated service rooms at the rear right and left. The rear right contains the stair hall, while the rear left features a two-storey service wing that includes a passage, a kitchen heated by a stack at the rear, and a rear service room with an external door.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window range, all featuring large 16-pane sashes typical of the early 19th century, with granite cills. The central entrance has a six-panelled door with an overlight. The left side has two 16-pane sashes on both the ground and first floors, which light the service room and kitchen, while the right side has a small single-storey lean-to. The rear of the main building has an 8-pane light with a ventilation grille for the service room and a 16-pane sash on the first floor. The rear of the wing includes a stable door for the service room and a 6-pane sash on the first floor.

Inside, the parlour located at the front right features a moulded cornice and a wooden chimneypiece with a cast iron grate. Both front rooms have panelled shutters on the windows. The open well stair has stick balusters, a wreathed handrail, and a scroll-moulded string.
