Description
Hendra Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse with few later alterations. It is constructed of rubble, partly cob, and rendered. The roof is covered with slurried slate and features ridge coping tiles and gable ends, with gable end stacks; the left stack has a brick shaft while the right has a rendered shaft.
The building has a two-room plan, with a central entrance leading to a lobby. The larger room is on the left and the smaller room is on the right, with a single-storey lean-to on the left side. It is two storeys high and nearly symmetrical, featuring a three-window range. The first floor has four-pane sash windows from the mid to late 19th century. The ground floor includes a central gabled porch with a 20th-century half-glazed door, a four-pane sash window to the right, and a two-light six-pane casement window to the left. The single-storey lean-to on the left has a 20th-century door and a two-pane light. The left gable end is stepped to accommodate the external stack, while the right side has a small three-pane light at ground floor level. The interior has not been inspected.
