Description

Newton Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse with few later alterations. It is constructed from slatestone and granite rubble, featuring granite dressings, and has a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, along with gable end stacks. The building has a two-room plan with a central entrance, and each room is heated by a gable end stack. A single-storey unheated outshut was added to the left end in the later 19th century, and there are two stages of additions to the rear.

The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 16-pane sashes, with timber lintels on the first floor and granite lintels on the ground floor. There is a central gabled porch that features a half-glazed door with sidelights. The outshut on the left side has a 4-pane sash window facing the front, and there is a small single-storey addition to the left. The rear includes outshuts to the left and centre, which are from two different builds and have casement windows. The interior has not been inspected.
