Description
Carlyon House is a house dating to around 1840, with later alterations. It is constructed of stucco over slatestone rubble, with a hipped slate roof featuring a crested ridge tile and end stacks with brick shafts. The building is organised around a double-depth plan, incorporating a central entrance and principal rooms to the front left and right, each with its own heating stack. There is a stair hall to the rear right, and a rear service wing, now in separate occupation.
The front facade is symmetrical, with a three-window arrangement over a plinth. All windows are 16-pane sashes, and a central 20th-century glazed door provides access. The left side features a blind window at ground and first floor to the right, a door to the left, and a 12-pane sash window at first floor to the left. The right side has a tall 18-pane sash window serving as a stair light. The rear service wing is constructed of rubble and has a 16-pane sash window at first floor to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
