Description
St Neot War Memorial is a First World War memorial, built in 1921 with later additions after the Second World War. It is made of granite and is located in a small enclosure surrounded by stone walls.
The memorial features a square, three-stepped base with a tapering shaft that rises to a wheel-head cross. On the north-east side, it has an inscription in black lettering that reads: "TO THE MEMORY OF/ THOSE OF THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE/ GREAT WAR 1914-1918/ (NAMES)/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE." The south-east side bears the inscription: "TO THE MEMORY OF/ THOSE OF THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE/ WORLD WAR 1939-45/ (NAMES)."
The memorial is enclosed on three sides by a low metal chain link fence supported by metal posts, and it is situated within a small quadrilateral Remembrance garden. Access to the garden is provided by a two-door swing gate with a latch, and the area is enclosed by walls made of slate rubble topped with granite coping stones.
