Description
Dye Cottage is a house that likely dates from the 18th century, with some additions and alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of painted slatestone rubble and features a slurried slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, including a gable end stack on the right. The house has a one-room plan, with an entrance leading to a passage on the left and a room on the right, which is heated by the gable end stack.
In the 19th century, a two-storey addition was added to the left side of the house at a lower roof level, along with a single-storey shed attached to the right. The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical front with two windows, all of which are 16-pane sashes. There is a panelled door with a timber lintel on the left side. The two-storey addition features a small porch with a half-glazed door and a small three-light casement window on the first floor. The single-storey rubble shed on the right has a door on the front. The interior has not been inspected.
