Description
The walls enclosing the churchyard of the Church of St Anietus are located to the west and south, featuring two gateways to the west and south east. These walls are possibly from the 16th century, with some rebuilding in the 19th century and mid-19th century gateways. Constructed from slatestone rubble without coping, the walls stand about 4 metres high, varying with the slope of the ground.
The west gateway includes a flight of six granite steps, flanked by walls with plain granite coping. It features a pair of cast iron gates with a double mid rail adorned with a pattern of circles and knob finials on the rails. Above the gates is a wrought iron overthrow with a lamp. The rails extend for about 2 metres to the right and left, also topped with knob finials.
The south east gateway has four granite steps with side rails and granite jambs. It also includes a pair of similar cast iron gates, accompanied by a wrought iron overthrow with a lamp. Plain railings continue for about 2 metres to the south atop the churchyard wall.
