Description
Gibraltar House is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations from the 19th century. It has a colourwashed and rendered exterior with a slate roof that is gabled at the left end. There is a brick chimney at the left gable end and a rendered chimney at the right end. The house is two storeys high and features a symmetrical front with three windows. The central entrance consists of a four-panel front door that is sheltered by a flat moulded canopy and a 19th or 20th-century porch with lattice sides. The ground floor windows are 16-pane horned sashes, and there are three similar windows on the first floor, all with exposed sash boxes. High dormers were added in the late 19th century, with a small four-pane casement window to the left and a pair of four-pane casements to the right. Two plaques on the front read "RS GIBR 1785" and "12th REGT FOOT." The pitched stone yard in front may predate the house. The interior has not been inspected but is said to have slate floors.
