Description
No. 24 is a house with origins dating back to the 17th century, featuring alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed from whitewashed cob and has a temporary canvas roof, which was formerly thatched. The house has a large stone chimney at the left end, with a brick shaft that is shared with the adjacent property, Chy-an-Eglos. The layout consists of two rooms and a through passage, and the building stands two storeys high with a four-window front.
The central entrance is a 20th-century front door, with a blocked doorway to the right. To the left of the front door, there is a ground floor window that is a 20th-century two-light casement with three panes per light. The window in the blocked doorway is a 20th-century casement with six panes per light. The right ground floor window is a 19th-century two-light casement with six panes per light. On the first floor, the left window is a 20th-century two-light casement with two panes per light, alongside three other first floor openings.
Inside, the ground floor room on the left features a slate floor. The right end has trusses that are pegged and were formerly fitted with threaded purlins. One truss over the left end has a cambered collar that is halved and pegged into the principals. Historically, No. 24 was divided into two separate properties.
