Description

Two houses, likely dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The front is of stone rubble to the first-floor level, possibly refaced on the right-hand side, and whitewashed and rendered at the first-floor level and on the right gable end. A brick chimney is present on the right gable end, and the roof is covered in rag slate laid in diminishing courses. An arched cart entrance is situated between the two houses. The front is asymmetrical, with four windows, and features slate-hanging in the spandrels of the cart entrance. Each house has a front door located under the cart entrance. The ground floor windows are 19th-century hornless sash windows, each with three panes above. On the first floor, the windows include a fixed two-pane window, a gabled dormer with a 20th-century hornless sash window with four panes, a two-light casement window with nine panes per light, and a three-light 19th-century casement window with two panes per light. The remains of a moulded string are visible at the first-floor level on the right-hand side of the house. The interior has not been inspected. The building forms part of a group of properties within Church Square.
