Description

This is a Georgian house dating to circa 1830, located on Church Street in Malpas. The house is built of Flemish bond brown brickwork with a grey slate roof. It is two storeys high with an attic, and has three windows facing the street. The front door consists of four fielded panels above two flush, reeded panels, set within a panelled doorcase which features columns modeled on the Tower of the Winds in Athens and a flat entablature, with a radial bar fanlight above. The windows are 16-pane flush sashes with gauged brick flat arches and projecting stone cills. The attic windows have been altered and are located in the end gables. The front has a brick parapet with plain coping. Two projecting chimneys are present on each gable. The front elevation remains largely unaltered and is considered pleasing. A sandstone plinth extends to the small front garden and includes cast iron railings with spike finials at the returns. The interior has not been inspected.
