Description

The gate piers and flight of steps to the west gateway of the churchyard in Malpas were built in 1776. They are made of red sandstone and consist of plain monolithic piers that feature projecting bands and pyramidal caps. The piers are inscribed with the names I. Dutton and S. Welch, indicating the church wardens from that year. A flight of nine stone steps leads up to the gateway, although the gate itself is not considered to be of special interest.
