Description
The tithe barn, likely dating to the 17th century, is situated on Church Street in Malpas. It has been considerably altered and partly rebuilt. The front of the building retains some brick-nogged oak small framing, while the rear is rebuilt in brick. It is a long, low structure with 5 bays and 1½ storeys, featuring a large oak-framed dormer towards each end. Most windows are small-pane casements, although some have been replaced. A replaced framed and boarded oak door provides access. A garage has been inserted beneath the right-hand dormer, incorporating a boarded folding door that is sympathetic to the original design. The rear of the building and its interior have undergone significant alterations. The barn is listed primarily for its group value and historical associations.
