Description
Ayre Lodge is a house that dates from the 18th to 19th century, constructed of gault brick with a hipped grey slate roof. It features gault brick chimney stacks located at the right and left rear and off centre to the right. The building has two storeys and originally consisted of five bays, with end pilasters and a central bay that projects forward. A band below the first-floor windows extends through a matching three-bay extension on the right. The façade includes five three small-paned vertically sliding sash windows with gauged brick arches.
The doorway is centrally located on the left side of the building and features reveal panels, three-quarter columns with capitals, a rayed semi-circular fanlight, and a two-panel door with a top light. There is a stepped approach to the entrance, flanked by two urns. Currently, Ayre Lodge is used as retirement accommodation. During the re-survey, only the hall was viewed, which includes an arcaded stick baluster staircase with a moulded open string, six-panel doors, moulded surrounds, and moulded wainscot.
