Description

Lodge Cottages is a row of cottages that date from the 17th century or earlier, with later alterations and a red brick facing. The cottages are timber framed and brick faced, consisting of three or more builds, and feature red plain tiled roofs, with the roof of the central cottage raised. All cottages have parapet verges and end chimney stacks on the left and central cottages, with a central stack on the right cottage.

The cottages are one storey with attics and have a layout of 1:2:2, with gabled dormers. They feature dentilled eaves cornices and 2:1:3 arrangement of two-light casement windows with glazing bars and segmental heads. The left cottage has a central board door, while the central cottage has a door with a top light to its right, and the right cottage has no front door.

Although much of the original timber frame is covered, some chamfered bridging joists and wall studs are visible in the left cottage, along with two 18th-century corner cupboards. At the rear, there is a small 19th-century bakehouse. These cottages were originally estate cottages for Tattingstone Place.
