Description
The tombchest of Jane Bate, located 9 meters east of the chancel of the parish church, dates from 1832. It commemorates Jane, the wife of Henry Bate of Devon Port, and the daughter of Richard and Anne Stephens. The tombchest is made of ashlar freestone and features a moulded freestone lid and base, which are adorned with moulded oval panels that include inscriptions. The inscription on the stone lid has become eroded over time.
