Description
Little Coldrenick Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-19th century, with minimal later alterations. It is constructed of slatestone rubble, with slate hanging to the front, and has a hipped slate roof with ridge tiles and ridge stacks. The house was originally planned with a double depth, featuring a central hall and principal rooms to the front on either side, a rear lateral corridor with a stair hall, a dairy to the rear left, and a kitchen to the rear right, connected by a service stair.
The two-storey, symmetrical front facade has a three-window arrangement with 19th-century sash windows. A central, gabled and glazed porch was added in the later 19th century, featuring a nine-pane light with sidelights, a semi-circular fanlight in the gable, and a six-panelled door to the right. Ground floor windows are sixteen-pane sashes, while the first floor has a central twelve-pane sash flanked by sixteen-pane sashes. The left side has a twenty-four-pane stair light, a door with overlight, and a 20th-century casement window, which illuminates the dairy. The right side features a twelve-pane sash at ground floor, a 20th-century window, and a matching twelve-pane sash above. The rear elevation is in exposed rubble stone, not slate-hung.
Attached to the right side is a single-story range of outbuildings, serving as a porch to the kitchen, and including a 20th-century casement, a garage door, and a door at the end. The rear of these outbuildings has sixteen-pane sashes with granite lintels. A 16-pane sash is positioned off-centre to the left, and provides light to the service stair. The first floor on the rear has a twelve-pane sash to the right and left, and a single 20th-century window to the left of the stair light.
Inside, the principal front rooms are accessed via four-panelled doors. The room to the left has a slate chimney-piece. The main stair is open-well, with a scrolled string, stick balusters, and a wreathed handrail. The kitchen on the rear right has a slate floor. The dairy to the rear left also features a slate floor, with slate shelves and ceiling hooks. A smaller secondary dairy also has a slate floor and shelves, including a drain in the floor.
