Description

Grove Park is a house, formerly a farmhouse, built around 1830. It features painted stuccoed stone and a slate roof that is hidden behind a parapet. The building has four rendered chimneys that have been heightened. It has a rectangular double depth plan with 20th-century lean-tos added to both the left and right ends. The house is two storeys high with a three-bay symmetrical front. The central entrance consists of a panelled two-leaf front door located under a flat-roofed 20th-century porch supported by rectangular piers. On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash windows, and three similar windows are found on the first floor, which are also present on the rear facade. A platband runs below the ground floor windows and beneath the parapet. At the rear, there is a contemporary six-panel door with a fanlight featuring glazing bars, flanked by engaged fluted columns.

Inside, the house retains contemporary six-panel doors and shutters throughout. The ground floor room on the left has a moulded cornice and a segmental-headed recess on the rear wall. The room on the right has an ornamental plaster cornice decorated with acanthus motifs. The hall and stairwell have modest plaster decoration. There is a curved dog-leg staircase with stick balusters and bracket decoration at the ends of the treads, along with a servants' stair and a cellar.
