Description
Stratton Court is probably a former group of almhouses that were later converted into houses. The building dates to 1863, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick with painted stone dressings, and has an asbestos slate roof with gabled ends, along with brick chimneys. The architectural style is Tudor Gothic. The building is arranged in a T-plan, with a projecting crosswing and a rear addition. It has two storeys and an asymmetrical facade of one and three windows. The projecting wing on the left has a gabled end. There are two doorways with 4-centred arched, chamfered stone surrounds; one is on the right return of the wing, and the other is on the front, to the right of the front door. The front doors are 20th-century replacements. Ground floor windows have transoms and chamfered stone Tudor arches. The wing has two single-light windows, while the main front has a single 3-light window on the left and a similar window to the right of the front door. The first floor windows are two-light, also under chamfered stone Tudor arches; there is one in the wing and three in the main range. The windows have lead casements; some glazing bars may be missing. The interior has not been inspected.
