Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that underwent remodelling in the early to mid 19th century, originally built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from stuccoed brick and features a slate roof with gabled ends and a moulded eaves cornice. The house has a T-plan layout, consisting of a two-room front range with a central entrance hall and a slightly lower service wing at the rear.

The exterior of the farmhouse is three storeys high and has a symmetrical east front with three windows. The windows are four-pane sashes with horns, and the first and second floors have moulded eared architraves. The ground floor features large stuccoed canted bays with entablatures. The central doorway is framed by a portico supported by fluted Ionic columns, which holds an entablature canopy above a panelled door with glazed top panels and a rectangular overlight. At the rear, there is a lower three-light gable-ended wing with 20th-century windows.

Inside, much of the early to mid 19th-century joinery remains, including an open-well, open string staircase with stick balusters and a moulded mahogany handrail that is wreathed over the curtail. There are also panelled doors and moulded plaster cornices. The left-hand front room features a Fossil (shelly) limestone chimneypiece, while the chimneypiece in the right-hand room has been replaced.
