Description

Scotts House is a house dating from the late 17th century, with extensions added in the late 18th or early 19th century and again in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of brick, featuring a Flemish bond front wall, while the rear wall has a Flemish garden wall bond and first English bond. The gable ends display various bonds with tile-coped parapets and moulded brick corbelled kneelers. There is a brick string with a dog-tooth course at the first-floor level on both the front and rear. The roof has been reclad in corrugated asbestos, and there are brick gable end stacks.

The original house is approximately square in plan, with a room to the left and an entrance to the right, possibly including a smaller service room at the back. The 18th or 19th-century extension is located on the right, and there is a 19th-century outbuilding on the left. The original house is two storeys with an attic and features a two-window front. On the left side, there is a 20th-century ground floor casement and a 19th or 20th-century first floor casement with a cambered brick arch. On the right side, there is a 19th-century panelled and glazed door along with a small blocked first floor window. An attic casement is present in the north gable end. At the rear, there are 20th-century casements and a small outshut. The 18th or 19th-century extension on the right has a two-window front with three-light casements on the ground floor, featuring cambered brick arches, and two-light casements on the first floor, topped with a slate roof. The outbuilding on the left is a single storey with a corrugated iron sheet roof.
