Description

The Grange, which includes a coach house and stable range to the west, is an early 18th-century house located on the south side of Walton Road in Kimcote. It is constructed of red brick with some stone elements and features a slate roof with coped gables and kneelers. The building has two gable stacks and one ridge stack, and it stands two storeys tall with a cellar and attic.

The north front of the house has a first-floor band and a double dentilled cornice. It consists of seven bays, with the two bays on the left projecting forward. The main entrance features a six-panel door set within a 19th-century fluted doorcase that has a flat hood and fanlight above. To the right of the doorway are two 2-light mullion and transom casements with flat arches. On the left side, there are two similar windows, along with a cellar window below, also with a flat arch. Further to the left, there are two more 2-light casements with cambered arches. Above the door, there is a single-light casement, and to the left and right, there are two additional 2-light mullion and transom casements, all featuring cambered arches.

Adjacent to the house on the left is a small 19th-century single-storey brick outbuilding with a pantile roof. The coach house and stable range to the right, dating from the early 19th century, are made of brick and have a Swithland slate roof with a hipped corner. The southwest end of this range has a higher gable-ended roof, and the roof extends over a cartway at the east end against the house.
