Description

Chyandour and adjoining cottages are a pair of cottages built around the early 19th century, with later extensions added in the 19th century. The cottages feature painted rubble walls and grouted scantle slate hipped roofs, with an asbestos slate covering a 20th-century addition at the rear left. They have cast-iron ogee-section gutters.

The layout consists of two one-room-plan cottages, with a slightly later one-room-plan cottage on the left and a former service wing at right angles behind the middle of the pair. There are 20th-century extensions behind the left-hand cottage and behind the left side of the pair. The group now functions as two houses.

The exterior is two storeys tall, with a basement at the right-hand end. The southwest front has three windows overall. The original pair of cottages on the right has identical one-window fronts, each with a doorway on the right. The left cottage has a hipped end and its doorway is also on the right. The first-floor window of the left cottage has been enlarged in the 20th century. The middle cottage features one original four-panel door, which has later glazed top panels. The pair of cottages retains its original 16-pane hornless sash windows at the front, along with one at the ground floor of the right-hand end, which also has a doorway leading to a basement that may have originally served as a fish cellar. The rear wing includes late 19th-century 16-pane horned sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
