Description

America consists of two adjoining cottages built around the early 19th century, with an extension added around 1910. The cottages feature granite rubble walls with granite dressings and a grouted scantle slate roof with gable ends, along with five gabled dormers at the front. Brick chimneys are located over the original gable ends and the right-hand gable end of the 1910 addition. The property has cast-iron ogee-section gutters and cast-iron downpipes.

The layout is a long rectangular plan with later single-storey lean-tos at the rear. The original house on the left has a two-room plan, likely with a lobby entrance and stairs between the rooms. The 1910 house on the right has a similar but wider layout. The exterior is two storeys high with an overall five-window range. The original house on the left has a nearly symmetrical two-window front, with a doorway centrally located. It features an old four-panel door. The right side has a wider three-window front with an original 1910 ledged door and overlight. The windows, likely from 1910, are horned sashes with marginal panes, and the first-floor windows rise above the eaves level, set within stone gables. The interior has not been inspected.
