Description
The Valansage Cross is a pre-Conquest granite cross located at SW425259 in St Buryan. It features a wheel-headed monolith with a fairly tall integral shaft set into an old socketted round granite base. The cross has a Latin design with chevron carving on its shaft and four carved bosses on one face of the head. The opposite face displays a Greek cross, both designs carved in relief. This cross is documented in "Granite Crosses of West Cornwall" by Laura Rowe and is also a scheduled Ancient Monument.
