Description

Rosemergy Farmhouse, dating to circa 1870, is a granite ashlar farmhouse with granite rubble and dressings, situated within an unspoiled coastal hamlet set in an ancient field system. The original plan was a shallow double-depth design, featuring a wider kitchen to the left and a parlour to the right, with a cross passage providing access to a stairwell between shallow rear service rooms. The south front is nearly symmetrical, with two windows and a central doorway, presenting a late 19th or early 20th-century top-glazed door with coloured marginal panes and an overlight, along with 12-pane horned sash windows. The roof is of scantle slate and features a brick chimney over the left-hand gable end. The interior was slightly remodelled in 1986 but retains many original features, including the staircase. A rectangular front garden is enclosed by granite coped rubble walls. This building possesses group value from its contribution to the historic landscape.
