Description
Lowena Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century. It features shale rubble walls with dressed granite quoins, jambstones, and lintels, as well as slate sills. The roof is hipped and covered with scantle slate, with brick chimneys positioned over the side walls. The original layout included two rooms with a central cross passage leading to a stair, but it has since been modified to one room, with a back kitchen added in a later outshut behind the right-hand room. The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front facing southwest, with a central doorway that contains a 20th-century ledged door. The original window openings are fitted with 20th-century 12-pane two-light casements. The interior has not been inspected. Lowena Cottage is part of a group of four farmhouses in this small hamlet, set in unspoiled coastal surroundings.
