Description
Glen Cottage is a small house dating from the 18th century. It features painted rendered rubble and cob walls, topped with a wheat reed thatched roof and a brick chimney on the left-hand gable end. There is a 20th-century extension with an asbestos slate roof. The original layout consisted of two rooms: a kitchen/living room on the left with a large hearth, and a parlour on the right with a staircase at the rear of the kitchen. In the 20th century, the cottage was extended with a single-storey lean-to on the left and a two-storey addition on the right. The building stands at two storeys and has a symmetrical two-window front facing southwest, with a central doorway that features a 20th-century door and windows. The right side includes a 20th-century one-window front extension. The interior has been partly remodeled in the 20th century but still retains the large hearth in the left-hand room. Glen Cottage is one of four surviving thatched houses in the small village of Berepper, two of which are also listed, including Rose Cottage and Toy Cottage.
