Description
Penhellick Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of shale rubble with granite quoins and dressings, topped with an asbestos slate hipped roof and brick chimneys on the side walls. The building features a double depth plan that is two rooms wide, with a central stair at the rear.
The south front is two storeys high and has three windows. The entrance is slightly off-centre to the right, sheltered by a later porch. The window above the door is narrower than the others, all of which are 16-pane sashes without horns. Each opening has granite sills and jambstones, and they are slightly arched with granite voussoirs and projecting keyblocks. At the rear, there is a mid-floor level stair window, and the back door is off-centre.
Inside, the interior remains largely unaltered and features a dog-leg stair with a handrail that ends over a turned newel and plain square balusters.
