Description

Rosuggan is a farmhouse dating from around the mid 18th century. It features painted shale rubble walls, slate sills, and wooden lintels. The roof is hipped and covered with grouted scantle slate, with brick chimneys positioned over the side walls, and it slopes lower to the rear over a two-storey outshut. The layout includes a hall/kitchen on the left and a slightly smaller parlour on the right, with a cross passage leading to a central stair situated between narrower service rooms at the back.

The building is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical three-window front facing southwest. The doorway is centrally located in relation to the windows and features a late 19th-century ledged door, along with late 19th-century 16-pane horned sash windows. The rear of the house is also symmetrical with three windows.

Inside, the interior remains largely intact, showcasing original carpentry and joinery, including moulded ceiling beams, a lapped collar roof structure, two-panel and ledged doors (one equipped with a barrel latch), and a dog-leg stair with turned balusters, a closed string, and a moulded handrail with newel caps. On the left-hand side wall, there is a stone mounting block with three steps. Rosuggan is part of a group of four 17th and 18th-century farmhouses, two of which are also listed.
