Description

The Ukrainian cross is a Grade II listed structure, erected on 7 June 1948 by Ukrainian refugees. It features a carved stone cross set on a brick and block base, which is painted white and includes a slate plaque. The cross is located on the verge of a dead-end road between Mylor Bridge and Restronguet Barton. It consists of a Latin cross with an additional gilded cross inscribed on it, positioned on a tall, stepped base. The south face of the base displays a slate plaque that reads: "THIS SYMBOL OF FAITH / IN GOD WAS ERECTED BY UKRAINIANS / WHO ESCAPING FROM RUSSIAN COMMUNISTS, / FOUND REFUGE IN ENGLAND / 7 June 1948."
