Description

The building is a cast iron village pump dating to 1852, constructed by Gilbert. It comprises a cast iron lift pump standing on a granite bucket stand, with a step and a round-headed slate back plate. These are attached to a rectangular pier topped with coping, built of shale masonry. Rubble garden walls are located to the left and right. The pump is operated by a long, curved lever with an oval ring handle. It is a well-preserved example of a 19th-century village pump.
