Description
This is a late 19th-century cast iron signpost located at the junction of Rose Hill and Waterings Road. The signpost features a fluted design and is made in two sections that are joined in the middle by simple flanges. These flanges, along with other horizontal bands, create fluting of varying widths. At the top, the post has a round-on-plan flange that is finished with a ball finial. It has two original arms attached to the flange, which direct travelers to Flushing and Mylor Church on one side and Penryn on the other. This signpost is a notable example of early street furniture, reflecting the growing importance of an efficient road system for both commercial and private transport during its time.
