Barn At Approximately 55 Metres North West Of Trengothal Farmhouse

The barn located approximately 55 metres north-west of Trengothal Farmhouse is a Grade II listed structure, likely serving as a hayloft over stables and a cartshed. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed from roughly coursed dressed granite rubble with granite dressings. The roof is a grouted scantle slate half-hipped design.

The barn has a rectangular plan, featuring a cartshed on the right and stables on the left, with a loft above. The right-hand end has 20th-century steps that likely replace the original granite steps. It stands two storeys tall with unaltered elevations and original openings. The south-west front has a fairly regular arrangement of three windows. There is a large waggon doorway on the right and three stable doorways to the left, with windows above all but the second doorway from the left, which is now partly blocked. A loading hatch is located at the first floor rear opposite this doorway. The interior has not been inspected. This barn is part of an unspoiled hamlet that includes an interesting group of farmhouses and farm buildings, all set within a beautiful rural landscape.
