Description
28 Basset Road is a house dating from the mid to late 19th century that has been altered. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with granite quoins and dressings, topped with a slurried slate roof. The building features a double-depth center block with set-back wings, standing two storeys tall and comprising three bays, with one-bay wings on either side, creating a symmetrical appearance. The doorway is highlighted by a pilastered architrave with a small cornice supported by consoles, and it has a panelled splayed reveal and a panelled door with an overlight above. The windows are 12-pane sashed types with quoined surrounds. The left wing contains a similar window on the first floor and a doorway on the ground floor, while the right wing is single-storeyed and extended. The roof is hipped with projecting eaves, and there is one chimney located behind the ridge. At the rear, there is a two-storey canted bay and a round-headed stair window. The interior has not been inspected.
