Description

No. 12, Basset Road is a house, now used as an office with a dwelling above, likely built in the mid-19th century and subsequently extended and altered. The exterior is rendered, probably on a rubble base, with a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and originally comprised two storeys and four bays, though it was initially symmetrical. The second bay, which was originally the center, features a round-headed niche, possibly a former doorway, with pilasters, imposts, and a fluted head. The ground floor has two large windows with 12 panes of glass. The first floor has smaller 12-pane sash windows, and the added fourth bay features a matching window on the first floor and an altered doorway below. The roof is hipped. A small, set-back wing is located at the left end of the building. The interior has been altered.
