CAMBORNE CHAPEL STREET SW 64 SW (west side) 10/27 No.15 (Post Office) GV II

Post Office, now sorting office. Dated 1899 in pediment; altered internally. Snecked squared sandstone with granite dressings, slate roof. Plan altered. Two storeys and 3 unequal bays defined by pilasters; symmetrical; banded rock-faced pilasters (those at the corners finished with miniature pediments), a broad band between the floors and a string course above the 1st floor, and a pediment over the centre; the wider centre bay has coupled 2-light casement windows with pilaster jambs and stilted segmental heads, raised lettering "POST OFFICE" on the band, a tripartite window at 1st floor with a 2-light centre and sashes without glazing bars, a datestone in the pediment with raised lettering "1899", and a finial on the apex; the outer bays have wide doorways matching the ground-floor windows in style, with panelled double doors and overlights, and 4-pane sashed windows above. Interior altered. (No.17 to the right, which now houses the Post office sales counter, is not included in the item.)
