Description
Holman Fountain is a public fountain located in Camborne, dated 1890 on its north side. It is constructed from granite ashlar and cast iron, with brass fittings. The fountain has a circular plan and features two-tier bowls topped by a lamp standard. The lower bowl measures approximately 3 metres in diameter and 0.5 metres high, with a hollow-moulded rim. A short circular pedestal in the center supports the smaller upper bowl, which has a cyma-moulded underside and a chamfered rim. The upper bowl is also supported by a square central pedestal that has lion-head spouts on each side and a cast-iron lamp standard on top. The lower pedestal is inscribed on the north side: "PRESENTED TO THE TOWN OF CAMBORNE BY JOHN HOLMAN OF CAMBORNE VEOR 1890." John Holman's engineering firm was the main manufacturer of mining machinery in the area.
