Description

The building is a Post Office constructed from coursed and squared stone with a slate roof. It originally features two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range and full-height canted bay windows on either side of the entrance. The right-hand bay was renewed, likely in 1936, while the left-hand bay is obscured by a single-storey extension that forms the main frontage of the post office, also dated 1936. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows with flat arched voussoir heads on each face, and there is a 12-pane sash window above the entrance. The roof includes three wide gabled dormers that appear to be reconstructions, possibly enlarging earlier windows.

To the left, there is a single-storey extension for the post office, which has three bays defined by pilasters. This extension features paired doors with metal glazed overlights to the right and large multi-paned windows to the left, along with a moulded cornice and blocking course. There is a similar side door in the porch leading to the sorting office range, which forms the rear wing on the right side and includes clerestory glazing.

The ground floor underwent extensive remodeling when converted to a post office, with ceiling beams supported by brackets dating from 1936. One room retains some 18th-century fittings, including a moulded plaster cornice and a panelled spine beam.
