Description

This building consists of a house and an adjoining cottage, which may have originally been an outbuilding. It dates from the 18th century and was extended in the 19th century. The structure is made of granite rubble with granite dressings and features slurried scantle slate roofs. The original gable ends have dressed granite stacks, while a brick chimney is located over the later left-hand gable end.

The layout includes a house with two rooms and a pantry, alongside a later one-room cottage on the left. The house likely has a parlour on the left and a wider kitchen on the right, with a cross passage in between. At the back of the house, on the middle and right sides, there is a shallow outshut that probably contains a stairway at the rear of the passage and a small pantry behind the kitchen. The cottage on the left features a former loading doorway to the first floor of the gable end.

The building is two storeys high. The house has a nearly symmetrical three-window front facing northwest, with a doorway located to the left of the middle. It has a ledged door, an old two-light casement window on the ground floor, and 20th-century windows on the first floor. The cottage to the left has a doorway to the left of the middle, a late 19th-century four-pane horned sash window to the right of the middle, and a window in a reduced opening above.

The property is part of an unspoiled coastal hamlet situated within the ancient field system of this area of Cornwall.
