Description

Bridge Cottage, also known as Zennor Wayside Museum, is a miller's house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with a remodel from the early 19th century. It is constructed from granite rubble and dressed granite moorstone, topped with a grouted scantle slate roof and dressed granite stacks at the gable ends. The building has a two-room plan, featuring a larger hall/kitchen on the right and a parlour on the left, with a cross passage leading to a single-storey 19th-century wing that extends at right angles behind the rear left.

The exterior is two storeys high and presents a nearly symmetrical three-window south front, with the doorway located slightly to the left of the centre. The original small window openings are found on the ground floor and in the right-hand gable, while the first-floor openings were likely added around 1805 when the eaves were raised.

Inside, there is a large fireplace with a domed stone oven in the kitchen and a smaller fireplace in the parlour. The floor is made of granite flags, incorporating some millstones, and the interior features 19th-century carpentry and joinery.
